you again later.
Family Lefevre.
St. Hubert le 29 September
1944."
Gene's grandson Joe writes:
"Also I've talked
to the descendants of the family my grandfather stayed with in St
Hubert . He stayed with a farmer
and his wife and 4 daughters.
So the man I'm speaking with is one of the daughters' son. He is
in his late 50s. We have only corresponded once - basically
to make sure we were both talking about the right people. But how
exciting is this...so he is in Belgium, and a retired English
language teacher. His desire to be a English teacher comes from
his mother, who was so proud to speak English
because a soldier who stayed there during the war named Generoso
Senerchia taught the young girls English !!!!
And he participates in a lot of WW2 celebrations. Both things
heavily influenced by my grandfather. I think that is
so powerful and awesome. I can't wait to talk more to this
gentleman. He also spoke of some photos and christmas cards
my grandfather sent their family. They had one of his cards
framed on the wall as they grew up.
It is a proud part of their family history."
