77-----------1239----C Co CO believes 1 of guns received ground fire. Has been hit by ground fire, 1 pilot shotup bad.

80-----------1248----A Co CO informed us he heard tubes pop from same azimuth.

86-----------1312----Cougar 13 was 20' above tree level and received AK-47 rounds.

87-----------1313----D Co LZ has 8 WIA's to be dusted off, 4 are urgent. C Co has 2 WIA's to be dusted off & 1 KIA.

88-----------1316----Cougar 14 took 1 hit in his bubble and the pilot got hit by the round.

95-----------1404----Gladiator 059 was fired at while leaving C Co LZ.

138----------1827----Gladiator 5 received ground fire N of DZ of C Co.

145----------1905----B Co today had 15 WIA's - 9 dusted off and 2 to be dusted off tomorrow. 1 of them belongs to A Co.

151----------2200----From Bde CO: Indications are that the 66th NVA Regiment is prepared for combat in the 1/22 AO.
------------------------ The location of the 66th Regt is YA8289. Their combat operations will probably take place in the
------------------------ area of contact today.

155----------2231----Request to Bde: (1) request airstrikes on a continued basis. We have known enemy targets and
------------------------ they will be needed to support maneuvers. (2) request 7/17 Cav conduct operations in 1/22 AO
------------------------ tomorrow. (3) request 2 quad 50's to enhance FSB perimeter defense. (4) consideration given
------------------------ to planning LRRP vicinity YA8488/ 8888/ 8887/ 8487. Primary area of entry is the valley running
------------------------ N & S. (5) Arclight at YA881887/ 811907/ 801907.

------------------------ in assigned AO with heavy contact. A,B,C & D Co's 1/22 heavy contact with Battalion size enemy force.
------------------------ Received B-40 rockets and mortar fire and small arms. Airstrikes and Arty and Gunships were employed.
------------------------ Friendly - 29 WIA's and 2 KIA's. Enemy casualties unknown, contact too heavy to sweep the contact area.
