William Arion Zellers
October 11, 1944 - October 9, 2017
William Zellers, 72 year old
Checotah resident, passed away at his home on Monday, October 9,
2017, surrounded by his family. He was born on Wednesday, October
11, 1944 to Leslie and
Juanita (Dees) Zellers in Sand Springs, OK. William worked as a
mechanic for many years before
getting his VA benefits. After that, he spent most of his time
with his family traveling, then
residing in Checotah, OK. In his younger days, he loved to go
hunting with his friends and
family, loved to make things and create things with using his
hands. He enjoyed playing
horseshoes, floating the Baron Fork Creek and Graves Creek. Later
in life, he loved being
ornery and playing cards. He loved telling stories about his
younger days. William always had a
smile from ear to ear when spreading the gospel and would sit and
talk to anyone about
anything, for he never met a stranger. He was a Vietnam Vet of
the United States Army, who had
earned numerous medals including the Purple Heart and the Silver
Star. He was baptized on
Sunday, February 15, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Wilburton,
OK, so we all know that he is
in a much better place than we are. He finally has got to meet
the Lord. William was preceded
in death by his parents; his sisters, Charlene Zellers and
Donnita Day and his brother, Jimmie
Castoe. Graveside service will be held at Ft. Gibson National
Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 12 at
1:00 p.m.
