Bill Saling

April 23, 1942 – August 14, 2023

Bill Saling died peacefully in his home on August 14, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1942 in Lakewood, Ohio.

Bill was a Distinguished Military Graduate of Ohio University. He moved to Atlanta in 1969 when he
joined Rollins, Inc. He was founder and president of The Sales Performance Group, Inc. until he
retired in 2000. He was a longtime resident of Big Canoe and served as District 1 Commissioner in
Dawson County from 2002-2006.

In 2016, he moved to Cadence at Woodmont in Canton, Georgia. In September 2022, Bill relocated to
Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, Virginia. He enjoyed establishing community social organizations such
as his Foreign Policy Discussion group and the "Scotchmen" (a Scotch drinking club).

Bill was a devoted parent to his two sons, Steve and Mike. He considered being their father was by far
his most rewarding experience. He was active in the local community serving as chair of the Shepherd
Center Advisory Board, president of the Sales and Marketing Executives - Atlanta, president and co-
founder of Mountain Top Lectures, Inc., co-founder of Vets Help Vets, Inc. and the North Georgia Vets.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Frances; his two brothers George Saling (Ann) of Orlando,
Florida and Thomas Saling (Terri) of Williamsburg, Virginia; his two sons Steven Saling of Chelsea,
Massachusetts and Michael Saling (Melissa) of Fleming Island, Florida; and his granddaughter Amelia
Saling and grandson Finn Ryan.

Bob Babcock writes:

"As 1-22 Infantry was brought to an over-strength of new Soldiers to “train and retain” at Fort Lewis, WA in January 1966,
Bill Saling was assigned to the very important support platoon leader job. Working across all four companies in the battalion,
Bill provided the support when and where it was needed, both in training and once they arrived in Vietnam. Again working across
the battalion, the last half of Bill’s Vietnam tour was as Battalion S-1 (personnel officer). Few officers in the battalion were as
well-known and respected as was Bill Saling. He lived our motto “Deeds not Words.” This “Regular, by God” is sorely missed."

Bill was buried on 2 October 2023 in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
