Donald Wayne "Chappy" Gover

1930-2016

 

 

FORT WORTH -- Donald Gover, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

Donald was born in Fort Worth, graduating from Northside High School in 1954. He received degrees from
Baylor University, Southwestern Seminary, College of William and Mary and Princeton. Donald served as an associate pastor
at River Oaks Baptist Church and pastored First Baptist Church of Sturgis, S.D. prior to entering the U.S. Army as a chaplain.
Don served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired in 1994 as a Colonel having completed over 27 years of active duty.

Survivors: Wife, Kathleen Gover; children, Gregory, Deborah, and Karen; granddaughter, Stella; brothers, Allen Gover and wife,
Jeri and Roy Gover and wife, Sue; other family members include, a niece, nephews, and cousins.

University Christian Church-Main Chapel.

He was a Chaplain for 1-22 Infantry at the Battalion level.  He served his first tour there from January, 1968 to January, 1969. 
He also served a second tour and I believe it was in 1970 or 1971 but am not sure.
