James J. Burns
1918 - 2015
James J. Burns, 97, died on Oct.
6.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a lifelong resident of Rockaway.
Burns was a U.S. Army veteran,
having served in World War II. Later he was a supervisor at Bush
Terminal.
He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame and a diehard Mets fan since
the teams inception.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marion, and four siblings.
Burns is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Denis S. OConnor Funeral Home,
Rockaway Beach, on Friday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. at
St. Genevieve in Breezy Point.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Denis S.
OConnor Funeral Home in Rockaway Beach.

The following is from Brad Hull:
James J. Burns was a WW II
veteran of C Co 22nd Infantry (from 1941-43) and 4th Division
(1941-46).
He resided in Rockaway Point, NY, and was a longtime member of
the 22nd Infantry Regiment Society (1996 or earlier)
who became a Life member of the Society in 1999.
