Glen was a son of Mountain Home, a son of Idaho and a son of
America. Glen was born June 18, 1944, in Mountain Home
to Melvin Henry Biswell and Iva Jean Biswell (Wells). He was a
loving husband and father as well as a devoted family man.
He attended school in Mountain Home and graduated from Mountain
Home High School with the Class of 1962. He then
moved to Pocatello where he attended Idaho State University and
was a walk-on member of the Bengals Football squad.
During this time in his life, he also worked on several major
construction projects in Southern Idaho, including the
Hood Construction project to build the first natural gas pipeline
to the Sun Valley Region from Wendell.
In August of 1965, Glen was drafted into the United States Army.
After attending advanced training in Washington State
at Fort Lewis, Glen was assigned to 4th Infantry Division. Glen
was deployed to Vietnam in the summer of 1966
in advance of the Division, to prepare facilities and resources.
When the 4th ID initially deployed from Fort Lewis to Camp
Holloway in Pleiku, Vietnam, on Sept. 25, 1966, Glen was
already in-country and rejoined his unit when they arrived.
During the first six months of his combat tour, Glen served
with his assigned Infantry Company and later was selected for
Special Duty with the Long-range Reconnaissance Patrol Teams.
Glen Biswell was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Army
Commendation Medal with Bronze Star and V Device for Valor.
He was honorably discharged from the Army in July of 1967 with
the rank of Sergeant (E5).
After being discharged from the Army, Glen returned to Idaho
where he worked in logging, construction and long-haul trucking.
He became the successful co-owner of CB Trucking with his wife
Paula Biswell.
Glen was fascinated by all things motorized. If it had wheels, he
could drive it and operate it. Glen enjoyed a lifelong passion
of drag racing with many of his close friends, and all of those
that knew him recognized him as a master mechanic.
Additionally, Glen was renowned for his sense of humor and
story-telling abilities. No one who ever heard his laugh will
ever forget it.
For his family and his friends, the joy of sharing laughs and
happy times will be missed dearly.
Glen is survived by his three children, Julie, Matthew and
Richard (Lori); his five grandchildren, Emily, Lorren, Richard,
Anna and Bradley; his great-grandson, Xander; his sister,
Beverly; his nephew, Curtis Thomason; his niece, Shauna Norby;
and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Paula; both of his parents;
his niece, Rhonda Kugley; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
