Miscellaneous photos of 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry Vietnam Part II

The caption below each photo is actually a snapshot of the identification filed with each photo
in the Army's official records, complete with typical Army mis-spellings and hand written notations.

The caption about SGT Charles A. Vaughn
is incorrect.

SGT Charles Vaughn was a Forward Observer
for the 4.2 inch heavy mortar platoon
and attached to B Company for fire support.

Another photo of PFC Ernie Hixwick of Company A, with PRT-4 transmitter
and PRR-9 helmet receiver. Note XM-148 weapon system.

Notice the hand written addition and correction
to the caption, to make it read:

Background insignia left to right are:

4th Infantry Division-----I Field Force Vietnam----Military Assistance Command Vietnam----US Army Vietnam

During its long service in the Republic of Vietnam, the 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry was directly assigned to each of these major commands.
Thus the Regulars of the 1st Battalion wore each of these insignia on their shoulder sleeves, depending upon the time frame in which they served.
