FORT CARSON, Colo. -
Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade
Combat Team,
4th Infantry Division, stand at attention in preparation of the
Change of Responsibility ceremony,
held Oct. 4 in the 'Regulars' motor pool. The ceremony was held
to say farewell to the battalion's outgoing
Command Sgt. Maj., Samuel Coston, and welcome Sgt. Maj. Timothy
Edwards
as the new Command Sgt. Maj. of the battalion.

CSM Timothy Edwards
Command Sergeant Major Timothy Edwards enlisted
in the United States Army in April 1991 and attended Basic
Training
and Advanced Individual Training as an 11B (Infantryman) at Fort
Benning, Georgia. He has an Associate Degree in Applied Science
and a Bachelor Degree of Liberal Arts and Science from Excelsior
University.
CSM Edwards has completed one tour to Iraq in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-06, two tours to Afghanistan in
support of
Operation Enduring Freedom 03-04 and OEF 07-08, two overseas
tours to Korea and has served in every enlisted leadership
position including Team Leader,
Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant Instructor, First
Sergeant, HHC First Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant
Major,
and his most recent the Command Group Operations Sergeant Major
of the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of Staff of 3rd Army
, Shaw Air Force Base Sumter, South Carolina.
CSM Edwards assignments include: A Company, 2/22 INF
Battalion, Fort Drum New York; C Company, 1/508th INF Battalion,
Vicenza, Italy;
D Company, 2/19th INF Battalion, Fort Benning, GA; 8th Army Honor

Georgia.
CSM Edwards military education includes the Primary
Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officers
Course,
and the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course. He is a
graduate of class 59 of the United States Army Sergeants Major
Academy
and the Command Sergeant Major Course.
CSM Edwards' awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star
Medal with one Oak Leave Cluster (OLC), the Meritorious Service
Medal
with three OLCs, the Army Commendation Medal with four OLCs, the
Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with
six OLCs,
Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Medal with one
bronze service star, the National Defense Service Medal, the
Korea Defense Service Medal
(2nd award), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the
Afghanistan Campaign Service Medal with one bronze service star,
the Iraq Campaign Medal
with two bronze service stars, the Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
the Humanitarian Service Medal,
the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th award), the Army
Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon (4th award), the

the NATO Medal with two bronze service stars. In addition he has
been awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, German Jump Wings, the
