Michael Belis Company C 1/22 Infantry 1970-1971

The hotel where we stayed overnight.
Note the screened in area in front, to prevent grenade and RPG attacks.

Another monument. Note the blue and yellow Renault taxis -
as representative of Saigon as a yellow cab was to American cities.

A Lambretta taxi

Bicycle rickshaw

Mopeds and small motorcycles were everywhere

The statue in front of the cathedral

Shell gas station

Cholon section

The South Vietnamese Marine Corps monument on Le Loi street.
I still remember the images on TV of this being pulled down
and demolished after the communists took over.

Another monument

Had to take a photo of this BSA motorcycle.
I had a BSA and mine was sitting at home in Louisiana for two years
before I could get back to riding it again.

An old NSU motorcycle

Blurry photo, but that motorcycle in front with the green tank was a Harley Davidson of the Saigon Police,
who were called the "White Mice" because of their white uniforms. This model had a 750cc inline V-twin engine,
and was not available to the general public back in the States, except to professional racing outfits.
