FORWARD OPERATING BASE
FALCON, Iraq Iraqi Police officers assigned to the Furat
Iraqi Police Academy
joined Soldiers of Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry
Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division,
Multi-National Division Baghdad, to collect concertina
wire Oct. 5 for disposal. The IPs cut the wire into smaller
segments
and pulled it over to where the Soldiers of the
"Regulars" Bn. crimped and folded the wire and loaded
it into a trailer
to be moved to a collection point for eventual disposal. The
Soldiers of Co. C have spent several nights per week
during the month of September and into October collecting the
C-Wire for disposal to increase the quality of life
for Iraqi residents as security continues to improve in southern
Baghdad's Rashid district.

As security in southern Baghdad continues to improve,
"Regulars" Soldiers of the 22nd Inf. Regt. continue
to collect the razor wire for disposal, a grueling task that
requires patience and many pairs of wire gloves.

weeks to collect the razor sharp C-Wire from the streets
and neighborhoods of West Rashid's Jihad and Furat communities in
an attempt to improve the quality of life

As the security in Baghdad remains at an all-time high, Soldiers
of Co. C and the "Regulars" Battalion continue to
remove
the C-Wire from the streets and neighborhoods of Jihad and West
Rashid in efforts to improve the quality of life for the Iraqi
residents.

Both leaders, assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry
Regiment, have worked with their Soldiers
during the past three weeks to remove the C-Wire that lines the
streets and fields where Iraqis live and work.
The Soldiers cut and load the strands of C-Wire, carrying it to a
collection point for disposal.

FALCON, Iraq Iraqi Policeman stationed at the Furat IP

into multiple segments Oct. 5, joining Soldiers from Company C,
1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment,
to remove abandoned and unused concertina wire in an attempt to
reestablish normalcy throughout Baghdad.
The residents of Jihad are anxious to assist in the cleanup
efforts, said IP Sgt. Sallah Mohammed.
"People feel good when they dont see the C-Wire in the
area, and it makes it easier to walk and drive," he said.
"The area is more beautiful. People who live in this
muhallahs, it would take a long time to get to the hospital,
but now it is really easy. They go straight from the muhallahs to
the hospitals."

neighborhood. The Regulars Soldiers of Co. C, 1st

conduct patrols daily for atmospherics surveys and assessments of
local living conditions in the Rashid district of southern
Baghdad.
Their continuing efforts help to disrupt enemy activity and to
assist the Iraqi Security Forces transitioning into the lead role
in providing security for the people of Baghdad.

conduct daily security patrols throughout West Rashid and search
abandoned houses for hidden weapons caches.
In recent weeks, Coalition Forces and Iraqi Security Forces have
found numerous caches in the abandoned structures
in southern Baghdad. The Soldiers, working alongside their Iraqi
counterparts, continue to disrupt enemy activity
and to assist the Iraqi Security Forces transitioning into the
lead role in providing security for the people of Baghdad.
