1st Battalion - Transfer of Authority from 2nd Battalion

On June 30, 2006, 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry took over responsibility of a combat area in Iraq
from 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry. It was the first time the two Battalions had operated
in the same AO in forty years, the last time being when they deployed to Vietnam in 1966,
when both were part of the 4th Infantry Division.

1-22 Infantry assumes responsibility of battlespace
previously occupied by 2-22 Infantry, 0900 June 30, 2006.

On right are LTC Brown CO 2-22 IN and CSM Huerta CSM of 2-22 IN

CSM (Ret) Rush is former CSM of 1-22 Infantry
