Lou Talley----A 1/22 1966-1967

I came in country from Fort Lewis, Washington the same time as Bob Babcock, been very occupied looking for the pilots who saved our company on 11/12/66, not certain of the location the pilots were at who came in and took care of business, only knowing that one was Australian who first made contact with us and was a FAC pilot by the name of Vance (Snoopy) Drummond and Wing Commander Tony Powell, but no idea at all who the two American pilots were who came in behind them with the napalm, rockets, 20mm cannons and two 500 pounders that kept us from being over-run as we had many NVA in the foxholes and many out of ammuntion, attacked by the 33rd NVA regiment.

Lou Talley

One of Alpha Company's Vietnamese scouts holding an XM148 Grenade Launcher / M16A1 Rifle weapon system.

Lou's comments:

I forgot the name of the S. Vietnamese scout we had in Kontum who I believe was killed in a March 67 ambush. Memory fuzzy
as I thought Captain Colin MacManus was also killed in March when C company broke through to save our rear ends when we were pinned down.
Don't think any of the scouts survived the full tour.
