Karol Edward Wozniak was born in the Bronx, New York City, New York on March 30, 1922.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by Bronz Bonded Terminal Warehouse
in the Bronx, New York.

He enlisted in the Regular Army on October 22, 1942 at New York City, New York. His home of residence
was listed as Bronx, New York City, New York and his civilian occupation was listed as
Semiskilled Warehousing, Storekeeping, Handling, Loading, Unloading.

He had completed four years of High School and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Catholic.

He was transferred to Company C from Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry
on July 1. 1944.

Private Wozniak was killed in action in France in the area near Neuville/Les Forges
during the fighting in the hedgerow countryside of Normandy on July 9, 1944.

 

 

Karol E Wozniak was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France in Block I Row 3 Grave 52 and was moved to the permanent
cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
