David Thomas Wood was born in Elmore County, Alabama on November 28, 1911.
Prior to entering military service he was employed by Opelika Mills in Opelika, Alabama.
He was drafted into the Army on
April 15, 1944 at Fort McPherson, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as Elmore County, Alabama and his civilian occupation
was listed as Skilled Mechanics
And Repairmen, Motor Vehicles. He had completed grammar school
and was married.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
He was one of 45 Enlisted Men
assigned to Company B from the 14th Replacement Depot
on December 26, 1944.
Private First Class Wood was
killed in action in Germany during the battle for the city of
Prüm
on February 6, 1945.

David T. Wood was originally
buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium in Block E Row 3 Grave 68 and his
remains were later
transferred and buried in Henri-Chapelle, in the 1947-1949 time
frame, when the temporary
cemeteries were shut down.
