Raymond L. Wilson was born in Kentucky in 1925. He was drafted into the Army on
April 3, 1943 at Evansville, Indiana. His home of residence was listed as Brazil, Clay
County, Indiana and his civilian occupation was listed as Unskilled Occupations In
Manufacture Of Furniture. He had completed one year of High School and was single
with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Private Wilson died on June 22, 1944 from wounds received in action in France on June 21, 1944
during the attack toward Cherbourg.




Raymond L. Wilson was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and was moved to the permanent
cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, most likely in 1948 when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
