Leroy B. Wilson was born in Hamilton, New York in 1881.
He enlisted for a period of 3
years as a Private in Company D of the 22nd Infantry on June 8,
1899
at Stoughton, Ohio. His enlistment record indicated that he stood
5 feet 9 inches tall, had light brown hair,
brown eyes and a fair complexion. His previous occupation was
listed as Laborer.
He joined Company D on August 28, 1899 at Candaba, Luzon, Philippines.
Private Wilson died of acute
dysentery at the 4th District Hospital at San Isidro,
Luzon, Philippines on January 5, 1901.
Leroy B. Wilson was originally
buried in the Philippines. His remains were returned to
San Francisco, California aboard the transport Logan on
March 29, 1901 and his body
was shipped to his mother Mrs. W.J. Hyne in Evansville,
Wisconsin.
