"Pfc Milo
O. Whipple enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on 14 October 1942 and
received his basic training at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
He was wounded in the hand on July 6 and was confined for a time
in a hospital in England and later received wounds
in his left foot. He returned to active duty in November and was
serving in an infantry unit. Pfc Whipple graduated from
Jackson High School in Ohio in 1938. Prior to entering service,
he was employed at the Kemper Furniture factory
in Union City. He went overseas in April, 1944."
Note: A hospital admission card
for Milo O. Whipple was found, indicating he was wounded in July,
1944 and returned to duty
in August 1944, though his unit was not specified in the report.
The above account of him being wounded twice, must have
occurred while he was with a different unit. He could not be
found in the Morning Reports for Company A 22nd Infantry
until the report of November 26, 1944, indicating his assignment
to Company A from the 92nd Replacement Battalion.
