Floyd Robert West was born in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana on July 5, 1925.

Prior to entering military service he was employed in the Forge Shop of Beech Grove Shops
in Beech Grove, Indiana.

He was drafted into the Army on October 2, 1943 at Indianapolis, Indiana. His home of residence
was listed as Marion County, Indiana and his civilian occupation was listed as Semiskilled
Occupations In Manufacture Of Automobiles. He had completed three years of
High School and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

West was assigned to Company B 22nd Infantry as a Private on June 17, 1944.
He was one of 25 enlisted men assigned to the Company as replacements on that date.

Private West was killed in action in France three days later during the attack against Cherbourg
on June 20, 1944.

Floyd R. West was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Indiana.
