Stanley John Wegrzyn was born in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey on January 1, 1918.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed by American Smelting and Refining
in Maurer, New Jersey.
He was drafted into the Army on
February 20, 1941 at Trenton, New Jersey. His home of residence
was listed
as Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey. He had completed
four years of High School and was
single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Catholic.
He was promoted from Private First Class to Sergeant in Company C on June 30, 1944.
He was injured in action in
France on July 9, 1944 and returned to duty
on November 27, 1944.
Sergeant Wegrzyn was killed in
action in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest
on December 2, 1944.
Stanley J. Wegrzyn was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Eupen, Belgium and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in New Jersey.
