William Thomas Tolbert was born in Statham, Barrow County Georgia on June 23, 1925.

He was drafted into the Army on July 11, 1944 at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as Statham, Barrow County, Georgia and his civilian occupation was listed as Farm Hands,
General Farms. He had completed grammar school and was single with no dependents. His religion was
listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company A from the 14th Replacement Depot on December 26, 1944.

Private Tolbert died of wounds received in action in Germany during the battle for the city of Prüm.
He is indicated in the 22nd Infantry casualty lists as having been seriously wounded on February 7, 1945.
He died of his wounds in a hospital in England on April 1, 1945.

William T. Tolbert was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Cambridge Cemetery, England and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Georgia.
