Wayne Wallar Thomas was born in McArthur, Vinton County, Ohio on June 7, 1925.
He was drafted into the Army on
August 17, 1943 at Columbus, Ohio. His home of residence
was listed as McArthur, Vinton County, Ohio. He had completed
four years of High
School and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed
as Protestant.
He was assigned to Company L 22nd Infantry prior to June 1944.
He was wounded in action on June
21, 1944, returned to duty on September 23, 1944,
and upon his return to duty on September 23 was transferred to
Company D.
He was a non-battle casualty on November 1, 1944 and returned to duty on November 9, 1944.
Private First Class Thomas died
of wounds received in action in Germany,
on December 3, 1944.
Wayne W. Thomas was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Eupen, Belgium and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Ohio.

Though his marker gives his date of death as December 13,
the Morning Reports of Company D indicate his date of death as
December 3.
