Leon Strauss was born in New York City on July 9, 1926.

He was the youngest of three sons and one daughter born to Anschel "Alex" and Sophie Strauss.
His home was listed as 59 Reid Ave., Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.
His religion was listed as Hebrew.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was assigned to Company C from the 48th Replacement Battalion on January 27, 1945.

Private Strauss was listed as missing in action in Germany on February 12, 1945.
His status was later changed to killed in action.

Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
