Edwin Eugene Stanton was born in Albany, Delaware County, Indiana on January 21, 1923.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by Guy Shatto Hatchery
in Dunkirk, Indiana.

He was drafted into the Army on October 5, 1943 at Indianapolis Indiana. His home of residence was listed as
Dunkirk, Jay County, Indiana. He had completed two years of High School and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company D from the 4th Infantry Division
replacement pool on June 17, 1944.

Private Stanton was killed in action in France during the attack toward Cherbourg
on June 21, 1944.

Edwin E. Stanton was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Indiana.
