Joseph Henry Ford Stanley was born in Roanoke, Roanoke County, Virginia on July 27, 1925.
Prior to entering military
service he was employed by Johnson-Carper Furniture Company
in Roanoke.
He was drafted into the Army on
October 21, 1943 at Roanoke, Virginia. His home of residence was
listed
as Roanoke, Roanoke County, Virginia. He had completed two years
of High School and was single
with dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private Stanley was killed in
action in Germany on December 3, 1944, the last day of the
22nd Infantry's participation in the Battle of the Hürtgen
Forest.
Joseph H. F. Stanley was
originally buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery.
Henri-Chapelle, Eupen, Belgium Plot MMM Row 6 Grave 112 and later
his remains were
returned to the United States where he was interred in Virginia
on November 21, 1947.
