Gelardo Scotti was born in Naples, Italy on October 14, 1923.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by the Wickersham Press
in New York City.

He was drafted into the Army on October 2, 1944 at New York City, New York.
His home of residence was listed as Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. He had completed
three years of High School and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Catholic.
At the time of his induction he was a citizen of the United States.

Private Scotti was killed in action in Germany, near Bad Mergentheim, on April 2, 1945.

Gelardo Scotti was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Saint Avold Cemetery, Metz, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in New York on July 24, 1948.
