Jerome Schwartz was born in
Minnesota on October 29, 1919. He was drafted into the Army
on November 29, 1941 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. His home of
residence was listed as
Colfax, Dunn County, Wisconsin and his civilian occupation was
listed as Unskilled
transportation occupations. He had completed grammar school and
at the time of induction
he was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as
Catholic.
Before going overseas he was married and had a daughter.
Sergeant Jerome Schwartz was
killed in action in France, in the vicinity of Gonneville,
during the attack toward Cherbourg on June 21, 1944.

Jerome Schwartz was buried in
the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Iowa.
