Walter Sawyer

Walter Sawyer was born in Loretto, Cambria County, Pennsylvania in 1875.

He enlisted for a period of 3 years as a Private in Company C of the 22nd Infantry on December 1, 1897
at Cleveland, Ohio. His enlistment record indicated that he stood 5 feet 8 ½ inches tall, had dark brown hair,
brown eyes and a ruddy complexion. His previous occupation was listed as Chair maker.

Private Sawyer died at City Hospital, Bedford, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts on September 13, 1898.
Cause of death was from pernicious malaria contracted in Cuba.
