Charles Frederick Rouse was born in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York on June 16, 1924.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by the Columbian Rope Company
in Auburn, New York.

He was drafted into the Army on November 6, 1943 at Syracuse, New York. His home of residence
was listed as Moravia, Cayuga County, New York and his civilian occupation was listed as
Semiskilled Occupations In Building Of Aircraft. He had completed four years of
High School and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company D from the 92nd Replacement Battalion
on November 18, 1944.

 

Private Rouse died on December 3, 1944, of wounds received in action during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest.

 

 

The entry for Charles F, Rouse in the casulaty lists of the 22nd Infantry for the month of December 1944
indicating that he had been Seriously Wounded in Action.

Charles F. Rouse was originally buried in the temporary cemetery at Henri-Chapelle
in Block PP Row 4 Grave 76, and was moved to the permanent cemetery at Henri-Chapelle,
in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
