Oscar Rivera was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on June 7, 1924.
He was drafted into the Army on
July 27, 1944 at New York City, New York. He listed
his home of residence as Bronx, New York. He had completed four
years of High School
and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as
Catholic.
At the time of induction he was an American Citizen.
Private Rivera was killed in action in Germany, on April 14, 1945.
Oscar Rivera was originally
buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Saint Avold Cemetery, Metz, France and his remains were returned
to the
United States where he was reinterred in New York on August 27,
1948.
