Shirley R. Rinard

Shirley Richard Rinard was born in Ritchie County, West Virginia on February 27, 1907.

He enlisted in the Regular Army on December 17, 1940 at Fort Benning, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as St. Marys, Ritchie County, West Virginia. He had completed one year of High School and was single
with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company A from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool on August 28, 1944.

He was promoted to Private First Class on November 1, 1944.

Private First Class Rinard was killed in action in Germany, during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest, on
December 1, 1944.

 

 

Shirley R. Rinard was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Margraten Cemetery, Aachen, Holland and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Pennsylvania.
