Frank Pratt

Company D 22nd Infantry

Frank Pratt was born in Buffalo, New York in 1859.

He enlisted for a period of 5 years as a Private in Company D of the 22nd Infantry on January 29, 1881
at Chicago, Illinois. His enlistment record indicated that he stood 5 feet 9 ¼ inches tall, had
brown hair, hazel eyes and a dark complexion. His previous occupation was listed as Clerk.

 

Private Pratt died at Fort Duncan, Texas on September 12, 1881.

In the Register of Deaths in the Army his cause of death was recorded as Typhoid malarial fever
originated in the Line of Duty.

 

Above: The entry for Frank Pratt in the Return of Fort Duncan for the month of September 1881. The entry reads:

"Taken sick while en route with his Co. from Fort Clark, Texas to Fort McIntosh, Texas, and admitted to the Hospital at this post
August 26.81. Died Sept 12.81. "

 

 

Frank Pratt was buried in the Post Cemetery at Camp Eagle Pass (Fort Duncan), Texas in Section J Grave # 3.

In May 1900 his remains were transferred to the National Cemetery at San Antonio, Texas.
