Clydie B. Porter was born in Logan County, Kentucky on September 19, 1919.
He was drafted into the Army on
July 24, 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as
Todd County, Kentucky and his civilian occupation was listed as
general farmers. He had completed
grammar school and was single with no dependents. His religion
was listed as Protestant.
He was awarded the Good Conduct
Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry General Orders No. 14
on December 31, 1943 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
He was wounded in action on June 10,1944 and returned to duty on August 10, 1944.
He was promoted to Private First Class on October 17, 1944.
Private First Class Porter was
killed in action in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen
Forest
on November 27, 1944.

Clydie B. Porter was originally
buried in the temporary cemetery at Henri-Chapelle
in Block HH Row 7 Grave 121, and was moved to the permanent
cemetery at Henri-Chapelle,
in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were
shut down.
