Ollie Ross Poe was born in Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee on January 24, 1918.
He was drafted into the Army on
May 27, 1941 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. His home of residence
was listed as Tullahoma, Coffee County, Tennessee and his
civilian occupation was listed as
Farm Hands, General Farms. He had completed grammar school and
was single
with no dependents. His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private First Class Poe was
killed in action in Normandy, France, during 1st Battalion's
attack
against the Quineville Ridge on June 14, 1944.

Ollie R. Poe was buried in the
temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Tennessee.
