Clarence William Phillips was born in Flippin, Marion County, Arkansas on July 24, 1909.
He was drafted into the Army on
October 8, 1942 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. His home of residence was
listed as Checotah,
Mc Intosh County, Oklahoma and his civilian occupation was listed
as Farm Hands, General Farms/
He had completed grammar school and was single with dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.
Private First Class Phillips was
killed in action in France, near Gonneville, during the attack
against Cherbourg
on June 23, 1944.
Clarence W. Phillips was buried
in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Oklahoma.
