Leo Phillips was born in Park Hill, Cherokee County, Oklahoma on December 15, 1921.

He was drafted into the Army on July 9, 1942 at Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He listed his home of residence as Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma
and his civilian occupation as Unskilled Construction Occupations.
He had completed grammar school and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was assigned to Company A from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool
on July 13, 1944.

Private First Class Phillips was killed in action in Germany, on September 20, 1944,
during the first penetration of Germany by the 22nd Infantry, near Brandscheid.

 

 

Leo Phillips was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Oklahoma.
