Norman J. Oles

Norman J. Oles was born in McAllisterville, Pennsylvania in March 1882.

He enlisted as a Private for a period of three years in Company E of the 11th Infantry on February 17, 1902 at Chicago, Illinois.
His enlistment record indicated he stood 5 feet 7 1/2 inches tall had dark brown hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.
His previous occupation was listed as Painter. He was discharged as a Private on February 5, 1904 at Manila in the Philippines
with a character reference of Excellent.

On February 6, 1904 Oles enlisted as a Private for a period of three years in Company D of the 22nd Infantry at Manila.
He was discharged on February 5, 1907 at Fort McDowell, California with a character reference of Excellent.
By the end of this enlistment he had attained the rank of Sergeant.

On July 18, 1907 he enlisted for a period of three years in Company L of the 11th Infantry at Lawton, Washington.
He was discharged from this enlistment on July 17, 1910 at Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming as a Private
with a character reference of Excellent.

On March 9, 1911 Oles enlisted in Company D 22nd Infantry at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
His previous occupation on this enlistment was listed as Painter.

 

Corporal Oles died at El Paso, Texas on August 29, 1912.

In the returns of the 22nd Infantry his death was recorded as a suicide.
