George Vernon Neill was born in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey on July 8, 1920.
Prior to entering military service he was employed by Joe's Service Center in Passaic, New Jersey.
He was drafted into the Army on
June 27, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He listed his home of
residence
as Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey and his civilian
occupation as semi-skilled mechanics and
repairmen, motor vehicles. He had completed grammar school and
his religion was listed
as Protestant. He married Dorothy Shuart in 1940. He had a
daughter born in 1940 and a son
who was born after he sailed overseas.
He was assigned to Company A from the 14th Replacement Depot on December 26, 1944.
Private Neill was killed in
action in Germany, during the battle for the city of Prüm,
on February 6, 1945.

George V. Neill was originally
buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium in Block B Row 6 Grave 138 and
his remains
were later transferred and buried at Henri-Chappele, in the
1947-1949 time frame,
when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
