Clifford Dale Mummert was born on July 29, 1913, in Weir, Cherokee County, Kansas.

He was drafted into the Army on September 8, 1943 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. His home of residence
was listed as Cherokee County, Kansas and his civilian occupation was listed as Shipping And Receiving Clerks.
He had completed four years of High School and was married. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Mummert was assigned to Company B 22nd Infantry as a Private on June 13, 1944.
He was one of 18 enlisted men assigned to the Company as replacements on that day.

 

Private Mummert was killed in action in France, in the vicinity of La Maugerie, on July 9, 1944.

Clifford D. Mummert was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Kansas on July 29, 1948.
