James Martin Mueller was born in Dardenelle, Yell County, Arkansas on July 6, 1925.
His religion was listed as Protestant.

Prior to entering military service he was employed at the Bob Wallace Mercantile Company
in Fairmont, Minnesota.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

The application for his grave marker indicates he entered the Army on September 22, 1943.

He was assigned to Company B 22nd Infantry as a Private on June 13, 1944.
He was one of 18 enlisted men assigned to the Company from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool on that day.

He was a non-battle casualty from August 1 to August 8, 1944.

He was wounded in action on September 15, 1944 and returned to duty on November 23, 1944.

 

Sergeant James M. Mueller was killed in action in Germany, on February 4, 1945,
during the second penetration into Germany by the 22nd Infantry.

 

 

 

 

James M. Mueller was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Foy Cemetery, Bastogne, Belgium and some time later his remains
were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Minnesota.
