Frank Chester Moore was born in Newport, Orleans County, Vermont on August 23, 1924.
He was drafted into the Army on
October 26, 1943, at Rutland, Vermont. His home of residence was
listed as
Newport, Orleans County, Vermont, and his civilian occupation as
student. He had completed four years of High School
and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed as
Protestant.
He was assigned to Company A
from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool
on June 30, 1944.
Private First Class Moore was
killed in action in France, on July 30, 1944,
during Operation Cobra, the breakout from Normandy.

Frank C. Moore was buried in the
temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Marigny Cemetery, St. Lô, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he
was reinterred in Vermont.
