Anthony A. Meno was born in Huron, Erie County, Ohio on October 5, 1916.

Prior to entering military service he was employed by Commercial Motor Freight
in Columbus, Ohio.

He was drafted into the Army on March 10, 1941 at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio. His home of residence
was listed as Huron, Ohio and his civilian occupation was listed as Checkers. He had
completed grammar school and was single with no dependents. His religion was listed
as Catholic.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry Motorized General Orders No. 5,
dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

He was lightly injured in action on February 7, 1945 and returned to duty on February 22, 1945.

Technician Grade 5 Meno was killed in action in Germany near the town of Weinsheim
on April 3, 1945.

He was also awarded the Belgian Fourragere

 

 

 

Anthony A. Meno was originally buried in the temporary cemetery at Saint-Avold
in Block AAA Row 11 Grave 125, and was moved to the permanent cemetery at Saint-Avold,
in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
