Thomas Carl McFerrin was born in Williamsburg, Greenbriar County, West Virginia on January 19, 1917.

He was drafted into the Army on July 8, 1941 at Huntington, West Virginia. At the time of induction his
home of residence was listed as Kanawha County, West Virginia. ( In the records of the 22nd Infantry
his home of residence was listed as Timmonsville, South Carolina. ) His religion was listed as Protestant.
He had completed one year of college and at the time of induction was single with no dependents.
At the time of his death he was married.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal as a Corporal in Company C, in Headquarters 22nd Infantry Motorized
General Orders No. 5, dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Sergeant McFerrin was killed in action in France
during the attack against Cherbourg on June 21, 1944.

Thomas C. McFerrin was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in West Virginia.
