Dennis F. Leary

Company B 22nd Infantry

Dennis F. Leary was born in Cherryfield, Washington County, Maine in 1868.

He enlisted for a period of 3 years as a Private in Company B of the 22nd Infantry on October 19, 1900
at Springfield, Massachusetts. His enlistment record indicated that he stood 5 feet 7 ½ inches tall, had
dark brown hair, brown eyes and a ruddy complexion. His previous occupation was listed as Moulder.

The Returns of the 22nd Infantry for the month of August 1901 recorded that Private Leary died of acute acoholism
in the District Hospital at San Isidro, Island of Luzon, Philippines on August 27, 1901.

 

 

The Quartermaster General recorded that the remains of Dennis F. Leary were received in
New York City aboard the transport McClellan on December 1, 1902 and shipped to
John Leary in Willimantic, Connecticut.
