Peter William Kogler was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 13, 1917.

He was drafted into the Army on May 8, 1942 at Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York. His home of residence
was listed as Long Island, New York and his civilian occupation was listed as Machinists.
He had completed one year of High School and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant. He was married before deploying overseas.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry
General Orders No. 14 dated December 31, 1943 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Private First Class Kogler was killed in action in France, during the attack toward the Quineville Ridge,
on June 12, 1944.

Peter W. Kogler was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #1 at Carentan, France in Block N Row 8 Grave 152 and was moved to the permanent
cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, in the 1947-1949 time frame, when the temporary cemeteries were shut down.
