Richard Clarence Kofoed was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on September 30, 1925.

His home of residence was listed as Cook County, Illinois.

Prior to entering military service he was a student at DePaul University.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was assigned to Company B from the 4th Infantry Division replacement pool
on July 13, 1944.

He was promoted to Private First Class in Company B on September 8, 1944.

Private First Class Kofoed was killed in action in Germany during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest
on December 3, 1944.

Stepson of Milton Hupka. Grandson of the late Dr. H.J. and Carrie M. Kofoed. Interment Montrose cemetery

 

 

Richard C. Kofoed was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Henri-Chapelle Cemetery, Eupen, Belgium and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Illinois in 1948.
