Durward C. Kemp

Durward Chappell Kemp was born in Osceola, Hill County, Texas on February 28, 1925.

His home of residence was listed as Itasca, Hill County, Texas. His religion was listed as Protestant.

Prior to entering military service he was employed in the machine shop at North Texas Agricultural College
at Arlington, Texas.

His Army serial number indicates he was drafted into the Army.

He was assigned to Company A from the 4th Infantry Division
replacement pool on June 13, 1944.

Private Kemp was killed in action in France in the vicinity of Gonneville,
on June 22, 1944, during the attack toward Cherbourg.

 

 

Durward C. Kemp was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Texas.
