James M. Karnes

James M. Karnes was born in Texas on March 4, 1921. He enlisted in the National Guard
on November 25, 1940 at Houston, Texas. He listed his home of residence as Harris County,
Texas. He had completed grammar school and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Protestant.

Private Karnes was killed in action in Belgium, during fighting along the Siegfried Line
on October 2, 1944.

 

 

James M. Karnes was buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery, Henri-Chapelle, Eupen, Belgium
and his body was returned to the United States for reburial at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery
where he was interred on January 13, 1948.
