Paul Richard Johnson was born in Andersonville, Anderson County, Tennessee in 1920.

He enlisted in the Regular Army prior to the Selective Service Act of 1940, on February 17, 1940.
His home of residence was listed as Franklin County, Tennessee. He had completed
grammar school and was married. His religion was listed as Protestant.

He was declared Missing before his only son was born.

Sergeant Johnson was listed on page 15 of the 22nd Infantry After Action Report casualty list for September 1944
as Missing In Action with a date of 16 September 1944. On that date Company B was in Germany, near the town
of Sellerich, during the 22nd Infantry's first penetration into Germany.
