Steven Husovich was born in Eckley, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1917.

Prior to entering military service he was self-employed as a trucker.

He was drafted into the Army on June 19, 1941 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. His home of residence was
listed as Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and his civilian occupation was listed as Semiskilled Chauffeurs And Drivers,
Bus, Taxi, Truck, And Tractor. He had completed grammar school and was single with no dependents.
His religion was listed as Catholic.

He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in Headquarters 22nd Infantry Motorized General Orders No. 5,
dated June 8, 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

 

Sergeant Husovich was listed as Missing In Action June 25, 1944 in France during the battle for Cherbourg.
His status was later changed to Killed In Action on June 29, 1944.

Steven Husovich was buried in the temporary U.S. Military Cemetery,
Sainte Mere-Eglise #2 at Carentan, France and some time later
his remains were returned to the United States where he was
reinterred in Pennsylvania.
